What to look for
- a full packing service, including packing the kitchen and unpacking at the other end if you want it
- a home survey (in person or by video) before they quote, so the price is based on what you actually have
- a written quote that says what is and is not included
- proper goods-in-transit insurance, and a clear answer about what is covered if something is broken
Questions to ask
- Are you a member of the British Association of Removers (BAR)? Members follow a code of practice and offer a complaints route.
- Can you store things for a few weeks if the dates do not line up?
- What happens if completion is delayed on the day?
- Can you take some items to family or to the charity shop on the way?
